(For those who prefer English version, the same contents are written below)

1. Adjudication Coreの決定
2. Independent Adjudicator

上記内容に関してご質問がある方はCA 今(japanbp.adjcore.2014[at]gmail.com)までお気軽にご連絡ください。

Subject:【Japan BP 2014】Adjudication Core, Independent Adjudicator, and Judging-in-English Policy
Dear all,

I’m Noritaka from Hitotsubashi University, the Chief Adjudicator of Japan BP 2014. On behalf of Adj Core team, I’d like inform all of you about:

1. Members of Adjudication Core
2. How to Participate as Independent Adjudicator
3. Judging-in-English Policy

All information above is essential for people who are planning to attend this tournament. Therefore, please read carefully and spread the word in your institutions.

1. Members of Adjudication Core
I’m excited to let you know the following individuals were appointed as the members of Adjudication Core. If you are interested, please refer to our profiles written in the bottom of the mail.

Chief Adjudicator:
– Noritaka Kon (Hit-U)
Deputy Chief Adjudicator:
– April Broadbent (Nanzan)
– Junko Nakano (Waseda)
– Kazuki “Kaicho” Tokunaga (Tokyo)
– Shunichi Arai (ICU)

2. How to Participate as Independent Adjudicator
As we already announced in the invitation letter, we all are welcome to people who are willing to attend as an independent adjudicator. If you want to, please fill in the form (http://goo.gl/forms/6aB9XhypYQ) by October 27th (Mon).

3. Judging-in-English Policy
Since this is a Worlds’ prep tournament, we would like to highly encourage all judges (including non-native English speakers) to write judge tests, discuss with each other, and make oral feedbacks in English. Therefore, please keep in your minds these three things below in order for nobody to get disadvantages.
A. If there are freshman debaters or people who seem unable to understand your explanation in English, or if you find it’s impossible to finish discussion in English within the given time, feel free to use Japanese as well if you can.
B. For debaters, DON’T underevaluate a judge who is just poor at speaking English. Your evaluation should be given based on contents of oral feedbacks.
C. Personal feedbacks can be made in any language after each round. If debaters demand ones in Japanese, please do your best.

If you have any question, please send it to me (japanbp.adjcore.2014[at]gmail.com).
We are looking forward to seeing all of you guys in Japan BP!

Best,

Japan BP 2014 Adjudication Core
